How it works
Don’t let new terms like ‘e-portfolio’ or ‘assessment software’ put you off – oscar is simple. Using an easy to use web interface, candidates can upload their evidence making it immediately available for the assessor online. No more paper, no more waiting. e-portfolios save time and money.
What is an e-portfolio?
An e-portfolio is a collection of online evidence or work and one of the areas where e-portfolios are making the most impact is as an online assessment tool in the assessment of competence based qualifications. It’s possible to use e-portfolios such as oscar to store evidence as text, images, videos and audio files.
When a piece of evidence is uploaded, the assessor can judge it against the units of the qualification in progress, building up a personal learning record for the candidate. oscar also allows assessors to enter feedback for the candidate so everything is held in the same place. No more filing bits of paper and digging through emails – everything is accessible through oscar.
oscar uses something similar to a traffic light system. As a unit is completed the candidate will see it go green, allowing them to get an at a glance view of their progress through their qualification.
It’s just as easy for internal and external verifiers to use oscar. They can log in and verify the candidates that have been assigned to them. External verifiers can view candidates work before they visit the centre.
oscar is so flexible as an eportfolio platform, it allows for the input of any kind of qualification and is QCF (Qualification Credit Framework) compliant. Putting your qualifications on oscar is straight forward and we provide a handy guide to get you going.
It takes only a few seconds to produce a full report on all of your candidates and their progress which can be further filtered on qualification or user defined programmes. This will reduce the time you spend on administration significantly.
An e-portfolio is a system which is going to save you time and money whilst making assessment easier for candidates and assessors alike.
